Tiffany Rose (almost not) launched again

What a struggle it was as we wrestled with trying to decide to keep our beloved Tiffany Rose or to send her off to be enjoyed by other sailors seeking adventure. We had never been weekend sailors before and being an hour and a half from the marina it is always an extra effort to get down there. And then many trips are needed just for maintenance. So in early spring we decided to put her up for sail. I got to work sprucing things up from the winter storage. I was just finishing the new bottom paint and figured I would put the word out in the next day or two.

And then an offer came out of nowhere. A friend of ours, Kevin Flynn, my first sail instructor from a couple of years ago, had started his own fractional sailing business called Yacht Time. He had two boats in the program and when he heard we were selling he presented and alternative - to include Tiffany Rose in his fractional fleet. Essentially it would mean that we could still sail her, with a share of her time, while the company took care of the slip and maintenance etc. Shirley, Christopher and I decided "Let's give it a try!" The program is at www.yachttime.ca

So this week Tiffany Rose was launched into Hamilton Harbour. My Dad came and helped rig her up and then later in the week Kevin and I sailed her to her new slip at the Port Credit Harbour Marina. And it was a perfect sailing say. 15kt winds on a broad and then a beam reach. What fun to cruise along at 7-7.5 knots most of the way. It will be interesting to see how the arrangment works out. We are happy to have the opportunity to get out on the water again!
